Industrial Client ProjectCompleted
4 and 8-Channel Gas Measurement Panel Development
Industrial gas monitoring systems require a dedicated control layer to centrally monitor gas detectors, manage alarm thresholds, and control field equipment via relay outputs. HEFA Teknoloji A.Ş. developed a 4 and 8-channel gas control panel with display, capable of centrally monitoring 4–20 mA gas detectors for a client's OEM requirements.
What We Built
Multi-Channel 4–20 mA Input Infrastructure
- The panel has 4 or 8 independent 4–20 mA input channels
- Each channel is directly compatible with standard industrial gas detectors — any 4–20 mA output detector based on electrochemical or pellistor/catalytic sensors can be connected, eliminating dependency on a specific detector brand
- Each channel's measurement range and alarm thresholds can be configured independently
Relay Outputs and Fault Relay
- 2 alarm relays (for ventilation activation, siren/flasher triggering or gas shut-off valve control)
- Fault relay (reports system faults such as sensor line break, 4–20 mA signal out of range, or power failure — providing active fault signalling for fail-safe design)
Display and User Interface
- Gas type selection per channel
- Alarm set point configuration (Alarm 1 and Alarm 2)
- Unit conversion (ppm, LEL%, vol%)
- Language selection (Turkish/English)
- Event logging (time-stamped alarm and fault history)
Battery Backup Power
- Battery backup power has been added to keep the panel operational during mains outages
Production-Ready Design
- Production-suitable component selection, PCB design, and manufacturing documentation including Gerber files, BOM and test procedure

Frequently Asked Questions
Which brands of detectors does the panel work with?
The panel is designed to be compatible with all industrial gas detectors that provide a 4–20 mA output signal. There is no dependency on a specific brand or sensor technology.
What is the difference between ppm, LEL and vol units, and how does the panel convert them?
The same physical gas concentration is expressed in different reference systems: ppm is absolute concentration, LEL (%) is percentage of the lower explosive limit, and vol (%) is volumetric percentage. The panel automatically calculates these conversions based on the selected gas type and measurement range for each channel.
Under what conditions is the fault relay triggered?
Fault relay trigger conditions include an open-circuit sensor line, 4–20 mA signal outside the defined range, low supply voltage, and internal firmware errors. This ensures connected safety systems are notified of any system malfunction.
What is the hardware difference between the 4-channel and 8-channel models?
The core processor board and firmware architecture share a common platform; the channel count differs in the input layer and enclosure size. This means a single firmware and documentation base for two products from the OEM manufacturer's perspective.
